Welcome to The Great Green Escape by Aristaios, a hopeful despatch for the person seeking re-connection to the natural world for mutual flourishing of people and planet.
Aristaios
Named after the ancient Greek god of bees, cheese-making, and rural arts, Aristaios is the parent behind The Great Green universe.
Aristaios’ purpose is to bring people back to nature and nature back to people. We want to wake up wonder, and to make coexisting with nature second nature.
In case you don’t know me, I am Elena McCallum, Aristaios’ founder, a behavioural specialist and an ecopsych educator. I’ve spent years studying and working in behaviour change for good across for-purpose, government and not-for-profit organisations.
Another important thing to us to re-invest. We share some of the profits from private projects to help fund rewilding projects, like the Gondwana Link project in WA.
Our values are:
Remain interdependent
It’s like being independent, but also part of a greater ecosystem that needs us. We’re not beholden to trends or corporate interests. We keep our eye on the bigger picture instead.
Wake up wonder
Awe, joy, and moments of beauty are important to our psyche. Waking that wonder up within people is how we make positive change happen.
Work naturally
We follow the cycles within seasons, ecosystems, cultures, and our own bodies. We work with energy, not against it. You won’t find us rushing for an arbitrary reason or slowing down if there is ideal momentum.
WWD/What Would David Do? (Sir Attenborough)
If Sir Attenborough wouldn’t approve of it, we probably won’t do it either. We agree that wonder and generosity changes people.
